Introducing CAMBr South-Workday Rewards!

Now for each workday you attend including the Thursday night workdays, you will be awarded 1 point that will go toward a drawing to win some great prizes.
Special projects like cooking will earn you 2 points.The more you work, the more you can win!

  • 2 points for a preferred Palos Meltdown race start
  • 5 points for a free Palos Meltdown race entry or a free trail worker shirt

Every workday we will be entering all participants that day into a raffle to win a sweet Thomson gift certificate for a stem or seat- post, so that’s another chance to win!

Workday Preparation
When you come out for a trail workday, be prepared for the conditions and a good hike. Some volunteers bring a change of clothes, especially during the hot summer months. In cooler weather, dress in multiple thin layers to better regulate your temperature. When it is dry, we usually do a group ride after the trail work is done (and sometimes one before as well). So bring your bike gear. CAMBr will be able to supply you with any hand tools needed. Remember to not over-exert yourself in extreme heat, use tools safely, and only use tools you are comfortable with. One thing to be careful of is poison ivy, though simple precautions will protect you most of the time.

The important stuff:
• Insect repellant
• Leather work gloves
• Hard-soled boots
• Long pants (Protection from ticks)
• Hat (Protection from branch tips and thorns)
• Protective eyewear (Protection from branch tips and thorns)
• Hydration pack (water bottles get lost)
• Hooded raincoat (if the forecast dictates)

2010-03-27South Workday @Palos 3-27-2010Should be a great year. If all goes well we will be building two exciting new trails. Since the 3-14 workday was canceled, plans are the same for this one. We will be providing lunch and raffeling off a Thomson certificate good for a stem or seatpost. Please wear boots and leather gloves. We have some new power tools and some new and sharpend hand tools. Think Safety.

Please join members of Half Acre Cycling and CAMBR South as for a trail work day. You’ll get your hands dirty, make our trails a better place to ride, meet some cool new riding partners, and sample some of the finest trail the greater Chicago area has to offer.

2010-06-27South Workday @ Palos 6-27Meet at Saganashskee West (boat launch) off 107th st. 8:45. Looks like the weather is cooperating and we will be finishing Dynamite Rd. and some sight line work.
2010-07-017/1 Night workday at Palos We have a very ambitious plan for Thursday. We like to get the Dynamite Road cut and ready for the weekend. If we leave it the way it is, with the traffic we expect over the weekend the trail will end up in the wrong places. So  Please come out and help, lets cut the thread so the trail ends up where it needs to be and we can use the holiday traffic to our advantage.
 Meet at Saganaski Boat launch at 5 if you can make it, or any time after and head over to Dynamite road.

So walk into turf and find us anytime after 5:30. We will start from where psycho meets Turf and work towards the parking lot.
