Workday Preparation
When you come out for a trail workday, be prepared for the conditions and a good hike. Some volunteers bring a change of clothes, especially during the hot summer months. In cooler weather, dress in multiple thin layers to better regulate your temperature. When it is dry, we usually do a group ride after the trail work is done (and sometimes one before as well). So bring your bike gear. CAMBr will be able to supply you with any hand tools needed. Remember to not over-exert yourself in extreme heat, use tools safely, and only use tools you are comfortable with. One thing to be careful of is poison ivy, though simple precautions will protect you most of the time.

The important stuff:
• Insect repellant
• Leather work gloves
• Hard-soled boots
• Long pants (Protection from ticks)
• Hat (Protection from branch tips and thorns)
• Protective eyewear (Protection from branch tips and thorns)
• Hydration pack (water bottles get lost)
• Hooded raincoat (if the forecast dictates)

2010-07-11garden workdayWe got a bunch of dirt to move so we can get the park ready for the event on the 31st.  Starts at 10a @ 3400 N Rockwell in downtown Chicago.

Members from CAMBr North, South, AND West will be out diggin'. The North Chapter is providing lunch, the South Chapter is bringing extra tools, and the West Chapter is supplying some swag to give away for people who help out.

If you've never been to a Garden workday, now is the time to come lend a hand. Your participation will go a long way to making sure the event goes off without a hitch.

2010 Knoch Knolls Workdays
2010-04-11KK workdayWe are cancelling this workday and will be rescheduling for later in the spring at the request of the land manager.



Well folks, It's time to start work on some of the muddy spots at KK.  
I know this is the same day as Palos, but the calendar is filling up and a small/medium crew can work wonders in the soft spring dirt at KK, let's to continue our good drainage work and start a few re-routes once the parks people OK the plan
Bring your old boots and expect to get them muddy!
Usual M.O. 8.45am meet at Knoch Knoll road parking lot and we will be heading by 9am into the inner loop to fix a couple of trouble areas.

Tools will be provided.

We are doing things a bit different this year.  We are going to have 5 big, official workdays where the focus is large projects.  Most of our maintenance will happen on weeknights and random days throughout the year.  This will make the workdays as productive as possible and get people more experience than just fixing lips.
