Two dill holes decided to build up a lip on dominator (the part that is already like a large tabletop) they also took out some trees on the back side of there jump.  The jump has a bad throw to it on top of that if you don't hit it hard enough you will land w/ your front tire on the back side of the jump and your back tire on the top of the table.  This will probably result in you getting bucked off the bike.  So take warning if your like me and like to rip through that section w/o taking time to look.

Did you see the guys working on it or what they were driving?  This is very serious and we need to stop them.  Somebody is going to get hurt in a big way and we don't need that kind of attention.

They need to be informed that modifying the trails and cutting down trees is not acceptable and if they want to work on trails they can do it on work days.

Yeah I told them that what they were doing was stupid and that if they hadn't noticed that they were not the only ones riding there.  The first thing I asked them was if they were w/ CAMBr.  I don't think they had any clue what that was.

Ok...I've been riding SWK for a bit now and often check out this forum.  I finally decided to register....and did so right now so I could chime in if it helps at all.  I absolutely love the place and what has been done there..and definitely don't want to see stupidity ruin it.  I saw the same guys out there tonight.  Unfortunately, I was unaware of what has been going on...  It seemed strange to me what they were doing at the bottom of the drop but I chalked it up to some guys from the club doing some work.  Anyway....I know one of the guys was riding a Bianchi...the other may have been a Trek, but I'm not so confident on that one...

I guess Dom could always inform the Oswego PD (or whoever is the right authority) that there is some illegal trail work going on by non CAMBR people and that I might be nice to swing some officers that way to check out the spot from time to time.

These two dills may take more notice from a OPD citation than some random biker moaning at them...

Instead of yelling at them I think it would be a good idea to let them know there are rules and that there is a club and only that club and the land owners can do trail work. Let them know it took a lot of time and effort to get where the trails are and un-approved work will set that back, or even get us kicked out since theres stinking horse allowed here too. Most of the people I talk to on the trails have never heard of cambr.org. Signs at the two trail heads might help that, at least at the middle one.

These guys seemed to have just found the place recently and are hitting it pretty regularly this week. It might be good to try and catch them and explain some things. I saw them between around 6 and they passed me in cars at 6:30 or so. I think one car was a green 4 door with the bike stuffed in the trunk.

They were there yesterday too? That jagged stump on the backside is pretty dangerous. I tried clearing that thing, but jumping a big kids bike still feels foreign to me.

I don't believe anyone is going to yell at them, but they need to be set straight and brought into the program. If they continue to do their own thing we could lose those trails.  I haven't seen the work yet, but by description it is not being done to IMBA standard or with safety in mind. Dom has made a sign and as a group we need to bring these guys around. And yes what they are doing is illegal and they could be ticketed. And believe me the OPD would not hesitate to do so.

Self policing is best way to manage and I know we have enough riders that understand what's going on to get this taken care of and turn these guys into a positive force. Hopefully they just don't understand what they are doing.

Speak the good word of CAMBr if you come across them.  Dom is working damage control with the park district, but a few incidents like this could set us back with the park district or even worse...   No harm no foul if they didn't know, we just need to get them on board.  The enthusiasm is great, it just needs to be on authorized work days.

There's no telling if it's the same guys... but i noticed cans of bug spray dumped in the weeds right by that table top, and it seemed like there was more garbage along the trails than normal. I was going to pick it up but didn't have any room in my bag for anything.

Yeah there has been a ton of trash out there lately. Ive been bringing an extra bag just to collect it each time out. Pretty sad to see how bad its gotten so quick when never really seemed to be a problem in the past.

It seems like since the campground opened up the path and cars can actually drive up to the end of Cotton Candy, the beer cans and other trash have really increased. Good idea to bring a bag out and clean up.

A great attribute of CAMBr is that despite certain diversities, different people can come to an agreement that, when it comes right down to it,  the ride is all that matters.

Hey, can anyone offer some more specific info on where this dangerous trail work was done? I'm planning a ride tomorrow morning and was hoping to make it home in one piece.

BTW, I saw a couple of yahoos driving a golf cart down Cotton Candy about a week ago or so.

On Dominator where the back to back drops are (steep one followed by a smaller one), someone's been reworking the tabletop between them. And there's a trail alongside Doppleganger, though it's not a complete and useable trail yet.

Dominator seems to be the hot spot for this year, back in the spring Jimmy and I came across one spot where people spray painted huge mushrooms and a couple trees at the entrance, definitely not cool.
