Since before the new year I have been in contact with DuPage County Forest Preserve District about the possibility of creating a singletrack network at one of their preserves. The preserve or the types of trails have not been determined but I am pushing for trails to be more technical/advanced than those in Cook county. This would not only add to the variety of trails we can ride but also expose riders to trails that we currently have to drive hours away to ride.

Would this stretch to some maintenance at Knock Knoll too?
It's a great little trail, just desperate for some TLC.

About two weeks ago I heard back from my contact at DuPage County. It had been a few months of her not replying to my monthly e-mails. In her e-mail she had mentioned how they had changed the format of their board meetings and that there is now a better chance of giving a presentation at one of the meetings. I will give her until the end of the week before I send her a follow-up e-mail in response to the information I had requested in my last message to her.
Knoch Knolls is different. The land manager of the park is the Naperville Park District. I have sent two different messages to Ed Dalton but have not heard back. Bicycle Etc. is currently working on getting me a contact with in the park district that I can contact about setting up a couple workdays to take care of some issues that need to be addressed with the trails.

In a perfect world CAMBr West's next project would be a trail system with trails that have multiple hits on them along with a go-around. Possible hits would be step-ups, drops, tabletops, teeters, and some elevated stuff: probably 4ft or less like at Peoria. The trails ridden in the mtb video Stripped will give you an idea of what we would like to do.
One thing to note here is that the planning director of DuPage County is well aware of the concept of bike skills areas and the idea of a stacked loop trail system. It is my hope that this will work to our advantage in filling the remaining void in the different applications of riding offered by CAMBr West.
Though this has been in the interest of CAMBr West's board for some time now, it became increasingly apparent that we need such at trail system after reviewing the responses of the survey that was conducted by CAMBr. Thanks again to all those that took the time to complete the survey.

The Bicycles Etc./CAMBr West Beginner Mtn Bike ride is sponsored by them. They've really been throwing all their support into the ride. They've even contacted Haro and will have some demo bikes out at KK for the ride on 8/27. They also do rides out at SWK too.
I also know that one of the shop guys has been talking about putting together an early morning singlespeeder ride out at KK.

I'm glad to hear there is some progress. I live in DuPage county, and there really isn't much dirt to ride here. Thanks for your efforts.
