I am just venting and wondering if anyone else feels the same.   Growing up as a kid there were tons of trails where I lived(this was 25 years. Ago)  Then big business came in and bought land from the forest preserves and did what they wanted.  Yes, the land back then was sacred more so than any forest preserve in cook, lake or mchenry now  So, locals told the forest preserve they can't sell it.  Well guess what they were. Ancient Indian burial grounds and a Indian village was also discovered.  Operation stopped for about a year. Then the trucks came in and did the damage.  What aggravates me is that in lake county they are buying all this land for the forest preserve.  When calling them many times explaining the importance of a trail system for mtbing they told me basically no no no.  I was very professional.  We are more so careful of the environment than people running around in the woods naked.  Places where I have seen sex acts among men in the past three years are  Deer park, DES plains, Beverly lake the worst.  It was not this way when trails were legal.  I know of a few women that will not even go into those woods on the limestone trail which is legal.  Wow all in the north branch.  I am going to keep on lake and cook to get trails in the forest as a means to keep out the pot smoking illegal drinking illegal sex in the woods.  Though,we are the ones causing problem.  I call BS.  The trails need to be open for horses and mountain bikers. one forest preserve officer is not going to police a few parks on their own they need mountain bikers to keep them out.  Deer park could have been a Mecca for the north.  What the hell happened?  I feel I am to blame.  What can be done now that is the question.  Is it a lost cause. When did we fall into the ranks of skateboarders off the sidewalk.   I am a grown ass man. Got that from a comedian.  I have even picked up trash in areas that I have been in on trails.  one man changed it all for the many why?  When did places like deer grove become such a big deal for environmentalists.  Oh yeah because of us.  They took are playground away from us.  I still have a burning desire to just ride deer grove and be an outlaw on my aluminum bike whenever I drive passed on my way to work at of course a bike shop.  I am just venting so this may be confusing, but closed trails will do that to a mountain biker.  Just fed up lately.  I want to see more of the youth able. To ride.  I feel I am ready to do some talking to the right or wrong people. Take care mtbers. What do you think?  5000

Deer grove is closed due to a frog study. Because one person likes frogs.

It takes a diverse biking community to grow our sport. If we can't manage every discipline in our very diverse terrain region than what do we really have.
