Anybody have any experience with GT on getting cracked frames covered under warranty? I recently had my weld crack between the seatpost and top bar on my Avalanche. It is a 2002, so I am really doubting that I can get anything from them, but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on this...being a weld crack it makes me think that it is a manufacturing defect as opposed to a metal fatigue type of issue.

Gt offers life time warranties on all frames except dj and downhill frames. Take it to a Gt dealer and they should start process for you

Called the customer service hotline and they said that carbon and aluminum frames are only covered for 5 years from the date of purchase...

Hoping this is not the case and they will make an exception

Hope they see it your way, If not...maybe GT corp rep can find a way for you to get a deal on something new for your dis-satisfaction.... - loyalty sometimes pays off.  (course, sometimes it dont mean squat - but hey...)

This might be tricky because GT merged with Schwinn (Questor Partners) in 1998, but the conglomerate went bankrupt in 2001, and was acquired by Pacific Cycle. Dorel Industries acquired Pacific Cycle in 2004.  I know the old GT warrantied there frames for life, not sure about the new GT.  If you noticed I say I own a 2001/03 GT I-drive.  I broke my 2001 frame and received a new 2003 frame.  It took a year and not everyone got one.  Find a good GT dealer and see what they can do for you, if not a warranty frame, maybe a great deal on a replacement.  Good Luck!  Let us know how it comes out.

I've never regretted a ride I've done but I regret each and every one I've missed.

5 years is good, many companies are only 1-2

Finally got my frame "warrantied".....

Ended up cracking in another location around the bottom tube/bottom bracket mid march of last month and I took it into performance. They sent some pictures to GT and GT offered me a couple of different frames at discounted rates.

Ended up going with a 2009 GT Zaskar Elite frame - Aluminum 26er, and I got it pretty darn cheap. The build starts tonight....!!!
