Is this a rain or mud event?  If it keeps raining like it is now it doesn't look good.  Are there contingency plans?

There is always a back up route and it is decided at the very last possible moment.
So far we have been lucky.  Cross your fingers and do the un-rain dance.

THe biggest thing now is for people to stay off the trails and let them dry.

Interesting topic.

After following all the uproar on this forum over the past few months regarding the rain, riding when it's wet, and the ultimate destruction of the trail system, it will be interesting to see what happens for the Meltdown. I assume the race would be postponed considering the fact that having hundreds of people race on damp trails would obviously be detrimental to their overall condition. Right now it doesn't look great with thunder showers and rain predicted for both Saturday and Sunday. I'm sure Cambr has a backup plan though.

Yes, there is an alternate plan.  It's called multi-track.

If the Race was sponsored by Orland Park Cyclery, it would be a non issue.
