Hi Eric, thanks for wanting to pitch in. Extra hands are always appreciated! Workday info is usually posted in the thread for that workday, such as this one. The details depend on what is approved by the park district, which is a mix of seeing what needs doing and waiting for the paperwork to get processed. And, there should be an e-mail to the membership to cover upcoming workdays and events. If you found this thread, you shouldn't have a problem finding others (thru the Workdays page or thru the calendar).
The intention for the next workday is to trim Jack Rabbit, which shouldn't be a problem to get an okay for since trimming is a routine need. Also, we have a picnic following the Sept 11 workday, sponsored by the local bike shop. So the next one's a good one to come to.
I should caution you though, helping at a workday is a pretty straightforward thing, but you do need to be cognizant of the poison ivy all over the park. If you follow a protective routine, you shouldn't have much to worry about.... • always use leather gloves and long pants • assume the ivy plant oil (urushiol) has gotten onto your CAMBr tools and your gloves, so don't touch bare skin with the gloves or tools • bag your work clothes afterwards so any possible poison ivy on them doesn't get onto other surfaces like your car interior • wipe down exposed skin with rubbing alcohol shortly after contact or as a preventative measure after the workday • wash your stuff to break down any plant oil you picked up
Really, it's the same stuff you should be doing if you fall off your bike and roll thru the plants out there. Course there's a chunk of the population that gets no rash from the oil, so you might not need to worry about it. Anyway, mark your calendar with the upcoming dates and we hope to see you out often.

Trailwork starts at 9am, meeting at the 2nd lot. The picnic should start at 12:30. It'll be pretty free-form.... food first and eventually rides will kick off.

The weather looks to be perfect for Sunday's afternoon outing! If you get there late for the trailwork and we're gone, we drove over to the start of Jack Rabbit (southwest part of the park) to avoid the hike. Come over and find us.

Ooh! Nice tool set.
Well we aren't allowed to use power tool in the woods, so you won't need it for the trail work. But maybe it'll come in handy to play music for the picnic.

Couldn't make it for the work day (son has a soccer game @ 12) but saw some of you boys out there on my way out. Lost my Garmin etrex GPS on either Anaconda, the freeway, loligagger, jackrabbit, devils dip, or colossus. A quality 6 pack awaits the finder (the crew has now lost Todd in his search the the GPS)!
