Does anyone know if the axle for the trek scratch is specific to trek, or can i use a dt or maxle. I don't have an axle as of now and need one soon. I talked to 2 shops and one said yes it specific to trek only and another said no u can use what either or.

It is specific to Trek, as the axle for the rear hub is part of the linkage for the "full floater" suspension design.
