With Autumn coming and the days getting shorter, it's time to charge up those new Nightrider lights & hit the trails in the dark. As most of you know, Knoch Knolls in Naperville allows users to be in the park and on the trails until an hour after sunset.

Are you interested in a group ride with a bunch of cool folks and maybe some uncool ones too? If so, vote for which nights work well for you & we can put something together.

I don't live too far off, and my new job is now a further drive. I think night riding might be my only hope for weekday, post work rides.

What's a decent not to expensive bike light? I know nothing.

I voted Tues or Wednesday.

I have two older Niterider Minewts, one for my handlebars & one for the helmet. The MiNewt Mini.300-USB looks like the current model. These don't put out the highest capacity of light, but they're good enough for commuting and singletrack. You can get this light for around $100.

I've heard great things about the Magicshine lights. You might want to look into them too.

Regarding lights : I've got magicshines. I run  the 1400 on my handlebars (I think they stopped making these) and the 900 on my helmet. It's actually a bit of overkill and I usually just ride with the 900 on my helmet. It's crazy bright. As far as the quality goes, for the price they're a good deal. probably not as high quality as some other lights in terms of construction but as long as you don't drive them straight into a tree (or a deer in the case of riding at KK) they work great. Only issue I had was that there was a battery recall last year and he's a bit slow on sending replacements (I sent mine back in July and probably wont see the replacement till December) cause they are a small company. I managed to pickup a compatible battery on Amazon that doesn't last as long but lasts long enough. I believe they've resolved all battery issues with the new ones though.

Regarding a group ride : I usually ride solo but it gets scary out there in the woods so I would love to ride with others. Thursday nights between 5:30 and 7:30 work best for me. Other days work too but it's hit or miss with my schedule.

Had a great time!  Sorry I had to jet early, but I got a good burn in.

This isn't about just me. It looks like Mondays & Thursdays are best for the most people. I suggest we start regular group rides on one or both of those nights. I'll join in as often as I can.
