Riding was great last night. I went solo and had a blast. Kind of fun eerie riding. Saw some wildlife too I've never seen before. The best was 2 massive owls perched in a tree. They must have been about a foot and a half tall while perched. HUGE! Their heads did the exorcist head spin when I shined my light on them. When I came back around a 2nd lap and checked that tree out, there were about 5 raccoons in it all screaming. I think the owls might have snatched up one of the young, and the coons tried to regulate. True story.
Love my new lights. The 200 lumen handlebar Nightrider seems sufficient, and the 1000 lumen magicshine helmet light is plenty bright to ride fast.
Trails are dry, besides a few spots near the marshy area off the river, although there's plenty of tall wild field grass to ride over during those few short lived sections.

I'll be there tonight cause I'm pretty busy tomorrow night. It'll be cold but it's not so bad when you're moving and out of the wind as long as you're layered up enough.
In regards to Wildlife, it's amazing how many creatures inhabit such a small area of forest. Usually when I ride solo at night i can stop anywhere in the woods and look around and see a set of eyes reflecting back at me. A few weeks ago and I sh*t you not we saw a flying squirrel. He ran up a tree and jumped and glided down to another one. When I got home i looked them up online cause I didn't think they were around here and apparently there's a small population of them in dupage and kane counties.

I've never been to KK or nite riding. Just picked up a light a couple weeks ago. Gonna be the first time using it on the trails. Is it better to wear it on your helmet or on the handle bars? I'm thinking helmet. See you guys out there later today.

Trails were good last night. Yes it's cold but all of the muddy spots were frozen. once you get moving and your hands warm up its fine. Trail visibility is really rough in spots due to an abundance of leaves on the trail. Plenty of owls out. According to some Native American Tribes seeing owls is bad luck so be careful or burn sage afterwards to cleanse your soul from demon spirits if you're into that sort of thing.

^missed your post^ I was there. Perfect riding and warm weather.
Solo riding at night kind of kicks ass.
