Pics from the Meltdown today. I raced in the sport class but I took some of the novice racers and a bunch of the comp/expert racers.

Over 700 people raced today. CAMBr did an amazing job of running such a huge event. Thank you to all of the volunteers that made this such a great event!!!

I posted this on the Meltdown thread too but in case you missed it there. This is a video of the entire 1st lap of the race which includes the Prologue section. Enjoy!

There is a water crossing at SWK, but I don't think this is it.

10-15 people a week are riding in our Thursday night group ride at Deer Grove. Some new faces, some regulars, all great people out for a fun ride. Come join us!

I rode in the dark tonight. I started out in the daylight but the sun set quick as I started my 2nd lap and headed for home. My headlight lit up the trail fine. I didn't have to slow down much compared to a daylight ride. An empty trail was nice but a few sections had huge clusters of tiny bugs that were so bad I thought it started raining at 1st. Had to breathe through my nose and kind of look down. Luckily they were isolated to one section of the trail about a mile long. Lots of critters running around that must be sleeping during the day or staying away from the trail. Good times.

I went to Deer Grove this morning around 9am with my 18 month old for a short walk. I have logged hundreds of miles at DG but never walked any part of the trail. It was an interesting change of perspective. I could see a lot of skid marks heading into some of the tighter turns going off into the woods. I even watched someone do this just ahead of me this morning. I am still amazed at how many riders whether slow or fast choose not to wear a helmet? And we all come across walkers and runners and we know to yell out "on on your left" with plenty of warning yet it always seems like people are startled by us coming. I think I could hear bikes approaching from 50-75 yards away this morning so I'm not sure how we are able to sneak up on anyone? Anyway, just thought I would share those observations I found interesting.

Oh and the curves aren't as tight when you are walking :-)
