As mentioned in the trail report and the Hunting season post, there is a wounded deer in the park last seen in one if the pits/ponds closest to the campground.
One of my resourceful friends at Fermilab was able to contact the local conservation officer with our trail map info to help locate and dispatch her.

If One sees unusual activity, be aware and cautious

Thanks for taking care of this properly. I love seeing wildlife on the trail. It's one of the (big) reasons why I ride. And I hate seeing animals suffer. It's their woods too.

I feel similar. I only hunt non-indigenous carp. I don't mind hunting for herd control or food providing the overall health of the herd is improved. It is a shame when a quick clean kill doesn't happen and results in this situation.
No sign of the deer or activity as of yesterday.
