The agreement with Kane County for Raceway Woods will not be presented for approval at tomorrows meeting. I spoke to Mike Holan a few times today providing answers in preparation for a meeting with their Insurance Agency and Dundee Township. Things still remain positive and we will continue to work through the final changes to the wording so that it will be ready for the next meeting.
I have asked for permission to flag the trail in the meantime while we can still see the sight lines.
Join us Tuesday next week at CAMBr Norths board meeting if you would like to find out the details.
Regards Mike

Keep your fingers crossed and start warming up those trail building muscles in the North.
It looks as though the last remaining issues on the license agreement for Raceway Woods have been resolved. The agreement will be modified to incorporate the amendments and then circulated for approval. Final ratification of the deal will be in 4 weeks time.
Kane County has given us permission to flag the trail but not to do any construction until the Kane County Board has given their approval.
This is great news for mountain biking as it is not only a new trail but it is opening the doors to other opportunities as well.
Regards Mike

Update: CAMBr's Legal Team will complete their review of the agreement this weekend which will be reviewed with Kane County next week. KCFPD are still hoping to have the agreement signed this month so that we can start building. The main issue is the liability insurance which is out of sync with the industry.

CAMBr put together a solid license agreement that was presented to Kane County today for Raceway Woods. The agreement incorporated multiple sources of information from IMBA, other Mountain Biking organizations, Kane County and years of experience. An extraordinary amount of time was provided by Nancy http://www.nfhlaw.com/ who helped construct the agreement in a volunteer capacity. If you see her on the trails be sure to thank her. This agreement will be used as our standard for future agreements. The ball is now in Kane County Foreast Preserve Districts hands. I am not sure whether there is enough time for them to review, provide feedback and finalize prior to their board meeting next week. If it does not get completed in time the agreement will need to wait for the next meeting to be voted on. Regards Mike

The CAMBr and Kane County legal teams are getting together today to seek resolution on the final wording of the agreement. I will update everybody after the meeting.

All remaining issues with the Raceway agreement have been resolved. The legal teams will modify the agreement as per our discussion today which will be presented to the Kane County Board for approval later this month.

Great job Mike. I hope people take notice how much behind the scenes work goes into building trails.

There was some sort of forest preserve training/safety meeting a while back that I guess people were supposed to go to before building. I can't seem to find that discusssion, but I wasn't able to go then because of a schedule conflict. Should I try to go to the next one? If so, what are the details?

Hi Mike (mbieweng),
We have enough that have gone through the training program to start with. Once we figure out who the regulars are we will look at the balance of folks that have not been on the training and organize a session.
You do not need to have been through the training to help build.

Last night we had a small Board meeting to discuss progress and start planning for the build.
Within the next 4 weeks we will have a detailed session to finalize work days, equipment, safety procedures and process to ensure that we are ready and well planned. There are some really great ideas that are being presented.
