Update on Raceway Woods

The Raceway Woods natural surface trail proposal has been in the works for over a year and CAMBr has put in many hours developing relationships and designing a trail that fits the overall environment at Raceway Woods.

Raceway Woods has the topography and soil type that will enable the development of sustainable world class natural surface trails for multiple users. After discussions with the Kane County Forest Preserve District (KCFPD) it was decided to develop a proof of concept natural surface trail in the northern section of the Forest Preserve. This will enable CAMBr to show its professionalism and quality of trail design to build trust with the community and KCFPD. Once complete usage will be monitored and corrections made if necessary. CAMBr is hoping that its success will lead to additional opportunities in the forest preserve.

CAMBr will fund and build the trail system under a license agreement with the KCFPD.

There will be a public meeting on January 5th, 2012 at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee between 6.30 and 7.30 to review the proposal and for the public to provide their input. The proposal will be voted on after the public hearing. Attached is a brief summary of the proposal.

Regards
Mike

I believe it is. I'm bringing my family. Strength in numbers. I also want my kids to see the steps that are needed to bring trails to our area. It teaches them not to take the trails for granite.

+1 on strength in numbers.    not necessarily voices.  Only one person needs to do the talking, Jerry and Mike can certainly provide guidance to the rest of us troops.

Kudos to CAMBr for continuing to grow mountain biking and have a positive impact on trail systems.  We are all so fortunate to have these people who make it happen for us!

On that note, I for one would be very interested to hear CAMBr's vision and plan for Raceway, such as miles of trail to be added or reconditioned, single v. double track, dirt/limestone, type of elevation there, what will be done with the racetrack portion, timetable for completion of phases or whole project, viability for a future XC race, or any other details. Thanks again.
