I had a great ride today! Snow had a good pack, no wind, and 28 degrees, made for a good winter workout. I had the trails all to myself.

if i go more than 2 days without a ride the demons start to surface and the people around me suffer......although the indoor skatepark has been there for me this season i still hit the trails at least twice a week, but i can't wait for the 60's and 4 hour shreds in the woods

There's not much better than a little snow on frozen trails. It's pretty fast once you get the hang of it. The deeper snow a bit tougher, and I agree Ben fat tire friends rock for that condition. This is my first winter MTB experience and other than frozen toes I really enjoy it. I sure hope the spring gives us some days to ride but quickly gives way to awesome summer conditions! I'm on board with the longer shredding rides!

I ride 15 miles each way to work and from work through the winter when the snow on the ground is less than 3 inches (except for the last two weeks as I picked up a cold that was flying around the office), I have never seen another cyclist in person. I am riding before 6am and after 6pm, but I can tell by the tracks that there is only one other cyclist that rides regularly. Most of my serious riding friends either ride in their basements or join bike shops groups workouts in the local shop.

It is very tranquil and in touch with nature. Its does get a bit rough after a thaw and freeze if there are a lot of hikers. I ride my cross bike with studs. My mountain bike is still in pieces for its winter break.

I didn't ride yesterday or today because of Hustle
Up the Hancock.  I hope to be out next weekend either off-road or pavement if things aren't frozen.  I finished around 11:47 today.

I got a ride in the snow this morning.  The trail was mostly packed down from walkers.  Daylight savings is in a couple weeks.

I enjoy riding in the cold/freezing weather provided there's not much wind or I'm blocked from it. I was out at SWK early Saturday morning while the ground was still frozen and it was great. I'd rather be freezing on my bike than warm my rollers or the treadmill in my house. But I know most people around the Illinois are winter wussies.

Yeah Rays for me only as well.  I am not really prepared for cold riding clothing wise either.  Plus my asthma dislikes the cold; I was winded just pushing the wheel barrel yesterday morning to the work site at the workday.

Weekends are tough for me. Like Redbaron, I'm commuting to work 2 or 3 days a week, primarily on the Des Plaines River trail which has been an entertaining combination of ice and mush.

it's good to see that some of us still enjoy being outdoors with our bikes. I get cranky too, when I haven't been on my bike regularly, and being trapped indoors on a trainer, just doesn't give me the same satisfaction as being on a trail, or on the road pedaling my cares away.
