I am confused... I thought this trail was called XX? If you are "extending" the XX trail then by definition it is still called XX.

Bingo.  The extension name is just to describe the section we are working on. When finished it will be the XX. And I'm sure it will also have a color that I will never be able to remember as well.

Confused or not you've got this one right. Why wouldn't it be XX, too many names adds to the confusion. When I planned this trail the idea was to get the whole thing, but felt it would be easier to get it approved in two sections.

Who are you and what have you done with the Rob we know?

There is way too much common sense being exhibited here.

XX for the north trail and Canal for the south trail keeps it simple.

If one needs to be more precise they can say west XX or east Canal.

Once colors for the two trails get sorted out, the trees should be blazed where the two trails intersect in the east section. folks have mentioned getting confused and ending up back on canal or in the stone temple area while riding XX east.

Spray paint marks like you find in NP's or Forests should last for years.

Hahahaha, funny right... I also got the answer correct on the Mustang 29er wheelset being disc or v-brake.

Only reason for seperate name is that its a different landscape than XX.   who knows, the winning name may be "XX", or "Bloody Bodies Cut Up and Stuffed in a Shed....Trail".  or maybe there wont be a winning name and this thread will decide it - the important thing it to help get the trail completed.  (sigh....and than someone will probabaly give it an alias......)

Spray paint is not cool with environmentals, conservationists or those of us struggling with aerosol huffing addictions. (I prefer PPG clearcoat #4)  But quality trail marking signage is a great suggestion to be improved throughout Palos.  I know I used my bandana-map about 60 times last year to remember where I forgot I wasnt.

Hmm, spray painted blazes are common all over the country where ever I've backpacked.

I wonder if there is some envirofriendly paint that they use when marking trails?

I am for just calling it XX, but if you want to add another trail name here are some ideas:

XO-  for "Oooh *$%^ is that a blast"
X9-   for "NEIN/NO! that trail is to hard"
XTR- for "Extra"  not good for our sponsor
XT-   for "Extension" again not good for sponsor
Blood Shed- self explanatory
Red Trail- see above.  It also will be another color trail Jerry and myself will never figure out.

I walked it yesterday and some work is already being done by Steve.  Let's all get out to some work days and make this trail as awesome as it can be!

Heres a little section that we will call.... well, I dont know what we will call it, but its kinda hellish and yet striking. This should be a before / during / after viewpoint.  The last picture is looking back up it.

In the mean-time, start thinking about a trail name, we may have a naming contest when the trail nears completion
How about eXXtension

This looks sort of familiar, I think someone dragged me into this area a long time ago. I don't know if I'll try this or not... but good job!
