Amy & Buehrle will be joining me this year.
Buehrle is going to love all that campsite cooking and we tend to drop a lot of food.

He is well aware.  Last year at Brown some well lubricated individual left a steak unattended on a picnic bench... Buehrle ate well that night!  Moral of the story is don't leave your food at his level.  And please don't feed him your scraps.

Not sure of exact days when I'll be there. Not friday though.   A buddy of mine and I are gonna make the trip up.  This will be my first time riding there.  Can't wait.

I might have room for a body, but not so much a bike. Why don't you get Mark's fat ass to come with?

Haha, hes going to 7 springs that weekend.  I was going to try to go but I figured I would rather get some good XC miles in, plus I don't know if there is room in the car for the 7S trip as well.

Doesn't sound like a huge issue, but do you know of this...

I will leave Friday morning from Palatine and plan to return Sunday afternoon/evening.  If someone needs a ride, I have room for another rider and bike in my van.

Camping is first come first serve.  I was the first one there from Cambr last year, and the place was pretty empty so I was able to stake out a good spot.  I picked out the area in the trees just past the storage building on the right when you pull in.  Its a little tighter than on the left side of the lot which more open but the shade is nice.  My vote would be to camp there again if its available.  Amy & Buehrle will be joining me this year.

Yea for Amy coming, too.

So camping is first come first serve?  Is the fact that this is Memorial Day weekend going to pose a problem for our large group number?  They don't have group camping available so we can be guaranteed?

It says on the website:  "Several picnic areas are located along the trail, camping at the trailhead and back country camping is allowed by permit (contact the Clark Co. Forestry Department, 715-743-5140)"     Where exactly are we camping, so we know where to go when we drive in?  Is it well marked?

We were looking at arriving sometime after 9:00pm Friday night.  Is this possible there?

Also, there is a daily riding trail pass fee, etc... does this apply to campers?

The weather is looking iffy (5 days out), but weather in some other prime trail systems is looking stellar... what's our contingency plan?  Is there one?  I know the fact it's a holiday weekend limits us with last minute arrangements.

Martha,
The camping area is quite large and I would highly doubt there would be a problem getting a spot to camp.  The CAMBr early birds usually get the spot in the trees off to the right very close to the chalet and washrooms. There should be additional room. Here is more info, including a campsite 3 miles from the trailhead.  Staying at the trailhead is best imho.  Here is the link.  If you scroll down you can see a picture of the chalet.
Awesome trails!

Can anyone post a map/directions to the camp area? I've never been there and have no idea where to go.
