SAVE THE GARDEN

There is a proposition to turn Clark Park into a private boatyard. Please sign this petition and spread the word: http://www.change.org/petitions/chicago-park-district-and-the-city-of-chicago-move-the-boat-warehouse-to-a-different-location#

Signed, but does anyone have a copy of the proposal?  The only one I can see is from 1998.

Here's the one thing I could find online:

That's part of the problem with this possible project. There has been little information released to the public and there are also some serious bait and switch concerns on what was shown to the park advisory committee and what is being proposed now.

This petition does not say the jumps will be altered/destroyed, yet the title of this thread is "Help save The Garden dirtjumps!"

This petition is against a large boat house. That is it. It has little to do with the dirt jumps.

Since no info was provided, I tracked down the plans, which are now posted in the Revere Park house at Campbell and Irving Park. Those current plans show no change to the "BMX" park.

Many comments show signers to this petition were led to believe the garden was going to be destroyed.

Does this mean the garden is safe? No. Yet I doubt any plan would involve clearing that site. Cutting down trees is blasphemy in the city. So unless they want to plow the jumps down between the trees for the sole purpose of destroying them, I don't see it happening.

I am sure everyone has the best of intentions here. A lot of folks showed professionalism in getting the jumps legitimized, and if they are under threat I hope it is handled in the same manner.

In a world of KONY 2012 and junk petitions Cambr should be careful what it (officially or unofficially) puts it name on, or makes front page news.

A search for "it" has this thread at the top.
