Just wanted to say I just hit up Saw Wee Kee for the first time! Fell in love with it! I am a new mountain biker, actually this is the first place I have ever went to to ride...probably should have started at something a bit easier but I enjoy challenging myself!! Disappointed I didn't see any other women there, but oh well! I will have to keep up with the boys for now!!
Great place though...props to the maintenance and people rockin those trails. Some are NO JOKE!

You sound like me, about 5-6 years ago.
That place made me fall in love with MTB'ing from the 1st ride.
Ever since, I ride every chance I get. I even moved out west to be closer to trails you dream about.
Enjoy the ride!

Welcome to the addition! If you are looking for someone to ride with just post in the group rides section of the forum. There is always someone looking for a riding buddy. There are a lot of group rides too and even some women's rides. The trails at Saw Wee Kee are a lot of fun but there isn't a lot of mileage there for beginners. Palos has more mileage that is easier for beginners, and Knock Knolls is kind of small but there isn't much there a beginner can't handle. Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback. I was there on Sunday, I have a '12 Specialized Myka 29er, love it. It was craving some action so I finally found a buddy to hit up some hills with. Went there again last night, got a bit lost!!! Hit some crazy sand dunes area with wickedly narrow paths and extreme inclines/descends. Got to the point where I had to do some pushing for sure! Can't wait to check more out in the area. I hear great things about Palos. I have a 5 year old daughter who is a bad ass on a bike and I am looking to get her started on some trail riding but would like some advice on places around the area that are kid friendly??? Saw a poor girl last night at SWK with this shear look of terror in her eyes. Definitely don't want to take my child somewhere like that and end up carrying her and her bike around ha! Thanks for the input everyone

A significant amount of Palos is kid friendly. My son, then 7yr old, rode Cemetery Hill last October & he loves riding at Palos. We regularly ride Knoch Knolls in Naperville together. I think KK is the perfect beginner track.

A group of 4-7 of us ride pretty regular on Tuesday evenings. You're welcome to join in anytime. We generally launch around 5-5:30. Sometimes later if it's still a little hot.

Howdy, if you want to ride Kettle Moraine in Wisconson, and are free on July 29th, we have a group leaving from North Central Cyclery that you could hitch a ride with, and then another weekend group ride to Brown County Indiana in the fall. Wish i would have seen this earlier, we just took a group to Palos on sunday, twas fun.
Happy Trails.

Nice, Tuesday evenings work pretty well for me as well as I drive out that way anyways to pick my daughter up from my parents. And i marked July 29th down in my calendar. It is a bit away to judge my openness still as I tend to be pretty last minute about everything =) Talked to a few buddies today @ work that like MTB'ing a lot and they told me I must flip over my handlebars first before I join their crew ha!! I am yet to... but by the judge of my last few runs I would guess that it isn't too far in the future! I have a lot to learn yet but I tend to catch on pretty quickly once I start getting the hang of things. Excited I opened up this door in my life before I was too old haha...ha...

Isn't that the same weekend as Wausau 24?

Yea. Dan E and Myself were planning on doing a triple monty at kettle when the whole group goes up, so either way i'll get my miles in. I had hoped to ride the 24/solo, but i guess i will plan on doing a future 24 another time. I guess as a positive Kettle might be a bit less crowded.
