something I saw discussed on the PAMBA forum.
What do you guys think, looks like a walk in the park not worth Olympic status.

Looked like it would be fun on a CX bike... but as far as an Olympic level MTB course, definitely not and extremely disappointing.

They should hold every Olympic MTB race at the South Africa course, regardless of the location of the Olympics.

something resembled singletrack at about the 0:49 mark....  and I saw a rock or two.....perhaps tiny shards of a (mini) Stonehenge???

I hope thats the spectators trail to GET to the real MTB course???

This video is of the original course.  They have made some modifications to make it more technical.  However, it's still not a great course.  The organizers built the thing from scratch in a field outside of London.  Also the helmet cam always flattens things out and makes it look easier/less incline/decline/smoother. Also, they needed to do it on land that could handle 10's of thousands of spectators and TV cameras (not a lot of woods). ... But again, still a lame course.  I agree, that South America course is sick and should be how courses are designed.

I like the parts with the lines of rocks placed across the trail.  That was amazing.

I see the IOC took my advice and did some scouting for course ideas at Deer Grove...

Here's what happened at the IOC committee meeting to design this course:

Chairman: "Anybody here know anything about mountain biking?"

Member:  "I saw a Subaru commercial once."

Chairman:  "Great!  You're in charge of course design."
