Maps - Chicago area riding

I'll be spending some time in the Chicago area in the next few weeks and want to get out on my bike during the trip. Are there established trail maps for Chicago's surrounding area? How far out of the city do I need to get before I can really ride? Just let me know everything I need to about riding in your district. Thanks.

If you go on google maps, type in chicago and select the "labels" tab on the right side of the map. Make sure the bicycling box is checked and it'll show all bike paths and bike-friendly roads. There's plenty of routes you can take from chicago without driving outside the city (or at least too far outside the city)

If you mean dirt trails just click Trail Guides above. Your best bet is Palos under Northern Illinois. This time of year all you have to do is get there; there will be plenty of helpful riders around.

Next nearest choices would be Imagination Glen in Northern Indiana or Kettle Moraine South in Southern WI. Also, the trail conditions on the Home page link to trail guides for those locations that CAMBr maintains.
