Thanks for the positive feedback, Mom always said I should write for the paper.

Here's a link to Mitch's Strava...it registered the mileage a bit short as the GPS cut out under the canopy at times, but check the elevation changes and you'll get the idea...http://www.strava.com/runs/loudonville-oh-10086910?ref=1MT1yaWRlX3NoYXJlOzI9ZW1haWw7ND0zNzk2Mzc%253D

Mike ain't got no Strava, cuz Mike don't even have a bike computer!

Awesome race report, well done!

Personally I have the Lumber Jack 100 next weekend.  Becoming a ball of nervousness/excitement....just want to finish.

Amazing write up mike! I was there and i just read it twice. Felbert and I made i simalar navigational error in the same place. Also we kinda tasted defeat at one point, we rolled up to the small water station between aid 3 and aid 4 where we were told that aid 4 was 17 miles away, it was 2:30 and the cut off time for aid4 was 4pm. I didnt think there was anyway we were going to make it. I was bummin big time! Hell bent to make it to aid4 we took off. We rolled into aid 4 at 4:03 to find out
the cutoff time was 5pm. We made up alot of time and fininshed. Will i do it again? Absolutley!

That is awesome.  Congrats!

I also feel a sense of accomplishment in that about 3 months into my MTB'ing life I survived my first ever ride at palos,  with Mike and Rob as guides.  The whole time I was thinking "holy crap, I am in A LOT worse shape thank I thought".  Little did I know I was following the off-road Lance Armstrong.

Congrats again, it has to feel extremely gratifying to set out to accomplish such a large feat and succeed.

Awesome story. I'd love to do this one time. For now I'll start off with a full loop of Kettle (John Muir and Emma) at the end of the summer, maybe.
Did you do any strength training before in anticipation of hills? I found that I like training off the bike a lot as well with various leg workouts or P90X routines (plyometrics, core and legs).

Wow great write up. I should have saved myself the pain and just read this. I read alot of rider/racer blogs and your race write up skills are at the top. Had a great time over this weekend. I am so glad that the Lumber jack is nothing like the battle ground of the Mohican.

With all the training you'd being doing in the spring and the race being Ohio I was expecting some thing more along the lines that race was a good experience but the race description seemed to be exaggerated but after reading the blow by blow my conclusion has changed - you're a better man than me!

Thank you for the wonderful write up!
