We are excited to be hosting another round of MTB classes for people who want to learn more about mountain biking.  If you're new to the sport or wish you had a better skill set to be faster and better, you might be interested in attending one or more of these classes we've put together - led by proficient riders and held at Palos.   Classes are free and include a skill-appropriate group ride.  We are asking people to register by emailing me at mmoody@cambr.org so I can get a good head count.

If you can comfortably ride all of Palos without getting off or feeling in over your head, we might be covering topics you are already familiar with - so if you want to be faster and better than you already are, maybe just ride MORE.    But feel free to stop in and please share this flyer with any friends you are hoping to get addicted to the sport.

http://cambr.org/SMF/gallery/298_26_04_12_11_57_35.jpg

In a nutshell, here's what the flyer says:

MTB 101:  Riders with no experience riding dirt trails, over obstacles or terrain.
MTB 102:  Riders who are comfortable with riding a bike off-road but ready to start cornering, obstacles and more difficult terrain. If you’re an experienced Roadie, start here!
MTB 103:  Riders who have ridden single track but want to learn more tips and tricks on riding local terrain faster and better.

What should you bring? A helmet, no exceptions!  A bike with fat, knobby tires.  Your bike must be in good working order.  Your brakes and shifters should work and you should understand how to use them.

All courses are offered at 6:30 PM in the Wolf Roads Parking lot (last parking lot) off of 95th Street in Palos Forest Preserve in Willow Springs, IL.

We welcome all ages, with parental supervision under 18.

Session 1:
May 15 - MTB 101
June 5 - MTB 102
June 19 - MTB 103

Session 2:

July 10 - MTB 101
Aug 14 - MTB 102
Sept 18 - MTB 103

All courses begin at 6:30pm. You do not have to sign up for a entire session.  Pick and choose the dates that work for you.

Photos from tonight's Mountain Biking 101 and 102 Class. Great turn out of 30 Class Participants and about 10 CAMBr volunteer instructors.

Facebook wouldn't allow me to put this album on the Facebook page of CAMBr-South, so I put the album on my wall and made it "public" so everyone can see it.

Congratulations to Martha Moody for oranizing and running such a well attended and productive class (or ClassES!) Gina Kenny provided fabulous instruction to new lady riders. Michael Pritchett taught descent of obstacles beautifully, and he fixed all their brak levers! Ben Chacko taught class, AND helped a guy with a mechanical. All the other instrcutors, Dan Lucking, Mike Sommer and Scott Zascar (and who else did I forget, Martha?) .... took their guys on some fun rides after some excellent pakring lot practice. It looked like it went fantastic to an observer here who was just taking photos.

Big smiles on the faces of the riders!

Great Job to the "Special Events" committtee (Martha) and to the Mountain Biking Class Organizer and Instructors. You have some new peoplke who now really like to ride bikes.
