Two weeks ago I picked up some poison sumac on my arms! no fun.. This week it's poison ivy on my legs and spread across my body.. I am on prednisone for 9 days..  This really sucks!! especially now that it's perfect riding!!  so In order to prevent the next outbreak what should I do wear long sleeve jerseys and long socks?  Need some advise from anyone who has sensitive skin..

That Mean Green Power Scrub really works!  I almost always pick up something like ivy or oak or sumac every year...I've had to do the prednizone treatment multiple times.  So far this year, I've only gotten a little bit on my legs, and the scrub has dried it out nicely.

I'm very sensitive to poison ivy and get it in some amount nearly every time I ride or do trail work.  This stuff does a pretty good job of preventing or limiting it. I think I got it at Walgreens.

You guys are Awesome!  Thank you very much for the help much appreciated.. I was thinking about taking a few month off from riding as this outbreak was really bad, it would kill me to stay off the trails though

I feel for you guys that get poison ivy a lot man does S@#% suck!!  I don't think I slept for two days ..good grief it's painful!!

I was on Dynamite so I'm thinking that is where I picked it up.. I never fell off the bike either.

Before you go to sleep take a hot hot bath with baking soda, real helps out.  Oak is the worst, dumped into a patch, and ended up seeing the doctor, he looked and went wow that’s unreal, I got to go and get everyone…….

Thanks for the tip Mike, I use Zanfel and it helps.   Assume you fell off the bike into a patch of poison oak? were you ridding at Palos?  If so I want to stay off that trail

Just a bit of FYI:  poison ivy & poison oak obviously exist in the area -- rampant in some parts of Palos -- but there is also wild grapevine.  It can look similar to PI (contrary to the pic I posted) and it causes a similar rash; many people are allergic to it and any doctor might just say it's PI rash.

Maybe that is what you contacted; it is pretty abundant and currently grows over many of the mtb trails.  I am allergic to it &  that was a big reason I cleared sight lines on Stonehenge & Post Hole a couple of years ago until I was told not to.  So sometimes I wear a long sleeve summer-weight Under Armor or use pre-contact wipes (the brand I forget; I grab 'emfrom work) and afterward make sure to wash/scrub arms and legs particularly.  Technu works great but even Lanacane First Aid spray helps to dry it up fairly quickly.... but it's still gonna itch for a while.

FYI, Zanfel and Mean Green are the same thing, only Mean Green is MUCH cheaper.

You can only get the Mean Green online.  Order a big tub...keep it in the shower...use it after you ride.
