I'm trying to put an old Dart shock back on an old Specialized Hard Rock and the fork/headset is missing the race ring. I think the race might be part of the headset hardware?  It's got a cane creek headset on it.  So I guess I need a race for the cane creek headset?

As you can probably tell, I barely know what I'm talking about, so I'm looking for some direction on how to replace this race piece so I can finish assembling this bike.  Do I contact cane creek?  Or is there a place to order these odds and ends?  What do I look for?

It sounds like you need the crown race, which if I am not wrong also requires a special tool.  I cannot remember if the tool is to install or remove the race though.  Some of the shops by you could have this, otherwise you can have it ordered.

All you need to install it is a pvc pipe and a rubber mallet Word!

I'm not worried about the tools, I'll get Fleetfox to install it.   I just need to get the race.  I offered to give this bike to my neighbor kid months ago and it's been in pieces all summer and he is DYING to get it to start riding.  I've been putting him off too long!
