The Winter freeze/ thaw cycle has begun. This occurs once we get overnight temps significantly below freezing.  From now until Spring we should follow the Winter Guidelines below.......

The low temps freeze the ground, then when temps rise near freezing.... the frozen ground thaws and releases water, turning the trail to a thick half frozen Mud. Riding in this type of Mud causes trail damage. Please consider following the winter riding guidelines contained in the Link here:

The Freeze and Thaw also loosens the soil and it is no longer compacted.....not a good thing. Please consult Stan Slager or Burak Balkuv for more info on Winter Riding Guidelines. The link provided is just a guideline I use for our clubs in an effort to prevent trail damage.

Please do not ride single track trails when they are CLOSED  conditions usually make sense: are leaving an imprint or even worse -  that's destroying a trail many worked hard to create, and its not cool.    Your bike is grinding its expensive life away which leaves you less money to donate to good causes like CAMBr.  You could get hurt, your friends may make fun of you at the ER and your butt will usually be wet and cold.   Please wait for the trails to freeze (or dry completely)!! - yer butt still gets cold in Winter but that's not our problem,  Volunteers dont have to fix trails we fixed last year and the year before so we can finish new ones instead !!
