That's right gang! CAMBr West does not sleep.

Next week a group of riders from CAMBr West (Marley, Jerry, "BMX" Ryan, and myself) will be meeting with the Oswegoland Park District to give our thoughts on a concrete skate park they plan on building at Prairie Point Park (Rt. 71 & Plainfield Rd.) that will be accessible to bikes! They have a couple of 3d models already to provide a point of reference but by no means are they done with the design phase of the project. It is are intentions to present our recommondations so it flows for those on two wheels.

The park disticts research thus far has involved going to and meeting with riders from the skate parks in Lemont and West Chicago.

Thats great to hear that more municipalities are opening their doors to bikes. If only we could get them to approve a singletrack project....

I am pretty excited about this. Not just us helping pick the park, but there being an acknowledgment of bikes in need of places to ride.

Its awesome to hear of towns doing research like this. More should do it, and the best part about it, the input from riders is free, so why not take advantage of that to get more people to come to the community?

BMX ryan is moving to Indiana this afternoon... I am pretty bummed. He will be here a lot of weekends because his girlfriend is still out here, and he only lives about 10 miles over the border. But I don't think he will be able to make it.

But that still doesn't take away how cool it is to be asked to do this.

On Wednesday Kevin, "Dirt" Sean, Jerry, and I all met with Chad from the park district. He went over the two different layouts/designs and asked which one we liked better. It was really cool to see that they have really done their research and are putting some effort into going out to skateparks and getting the input from both skaters and bikers.

They have yet to decide on a layout and are welcoming people to stop in and give their opinion. Their office is open till 4:30pm M-F at the Prairie Point Park office building.

This is our time to speak up and give our input. How often does that happen for BMX'ers and skatepark riders?!

nice... i hope the location is going to much better than its current location. I use to enjoy the skate park but it got out of hand with crime and other junk like that.

I will follow up today and find out if the voting has been closed for the design of the skatepark. The last time I talked with the park district they were leaning heavily towards the concrete skate park which is what CAMBr was pushing for.
