Hello all,

New to Chicagoland area, moving to the Lake Villa area in July. Any local knowledge of trails up further North of the city? I saw Beulah Park over in Zion area and Des Plains. Thanks for any help!

Silver Lake in Wisconsin should be fairly close to you.

Alpine Valley ski area has a trail. I rode it a few years ago a nice alternative.

I'm up north in Lake County and Silver Lake has become my go-to trail.  About 35 min away from me, easy to get to after work (less traffic then going south on 294 to palos).  Not as big as palos, but there is enough tail there to get ~60min of riding in.   (It's also free, unlike alpine, or Kettle... but of course you should always try to volunteer on a work day if you can).

I rode Silver Lake today for the first time. Great trail system. I like it better than Palos. No sharing - bikes only. All one-way traffic. Very well maintained. A real gem.
