Just letting you powderhounds know...Frontier Airlines has some INCREDIBLE deals to Colorado right now. I booked a trip from Midway to DIA on Feb.17-22nd WITH a rental car (Ford Explorer) for $350 total!! Prices were so good, I decided to surprise my wife for her b-day and bought her tix to come out on that Thursday night to meet us...Thurs-Sun roundtrip was $185! Shuttle to Breck was another $82 one way...I thought it funny that the shuttle up to Summit County and back was almost as much as the FLIGHT.
Now JUMP on it! Happy trails...or off-trails...whichever you prefer.

always go west! have you ever taken one of those shuttles? they take usually longer then the flight, and im sure they probably use just as must fuel those vans fly. btw - frontier is usually ridiculously cheap to dia. most times, year round. swa can be too. ive jumped on one of their specials and found round trips as low $150. i may be out in summit during this time with a group of friends...

Not if you live in Alaska, unless you love vodka.

Salt Lake City my man, (Park City/Ogden/Little Cottonwood Canyon/Big Cottonwood Canyon)
all 30min drive from the airport.
Much cheaper then Colorado. You can stay in Salt Lake for dirt cheap. Why pay top $ at a resort?

I leave for SLC on Jan 1. We'll be staying across from The Canyons. We plan on riding there, Park City, Brighton and Solitude. I've never been to Utah so any suggestions on which resorts/lifts are better would be appreciated. We found dirt cheap prices on a rental condo. Like $125/night for 8 people. Pretty sweet. I can't wait. I usually visit Tahoe, Summit County and Whistler, so I'm hoping Utah holds up to my expectations. And, this year, I've irresponsibly purchased a powder specific board, so the Wasatch Mountain range better start holding some storms.

Nice, seems like you did you're research Snoboarder. I'm doing the same. Leave for SLC on Feb 26th. Staying in Park City. We rented a house and got a bunch of people in on it. Comes out to like $230/person for the entire 4 night, 5 day stay. SWEET!
I did the same trip last year, and ironically did all of the resorts you're planning on hitting. Canyons, Solitude, and Brighton. Solitude was my least favorite of the 3. Canyons and Brighton are tits! Brighton/Solitude have a dual lift ticket deal, so you can do both mtn's on the same day.
Snowbird is probably the premier resort out there, but it's almost all black and double black. Alta as well, but they don't allow boarding.
I've heard the cheapest place to stay would be the city of Ogden, since it's less popular then Park city, and it's well outside SLC, but there isn't as much night life, at least in comparison to Park City & SLC. Snowbasin and Powder Mtn are both right there in Ogden, Snowbasin being the bigger badder resort.
All in all, there are 13 resorts all within a 30min drive of SLC. You can't find that anywhere!
Have fun mang.

id prefer to ride w/out boarders too. too many of them just sit on their as*. plus, i prefer <eh hem> blacks. the steeper and more tree filled the better. BUT, i dont hate on skiers UNDERCOVER - A big THANK YOU! i just added your suggestions to my phone and cant wait to put them to the test. depending on whether my summit county trip in feb comes to fruition, i may be looking for options. and if utah is all that everyone says it is, i wont mind skipping colorado.

i dont hate boarders. i have grown to live with them. i started skiing 25 years ago and when snowboarders were first allowed in ski resorts me and every other skiier disliked it. now i dont mind them i just carve a little snow at them if i see them sitting on their a**. its the kids that sit on their but hanging out midway down in the middle of a run that i hate. oh and yes i have had my fair share of days on a snowboard.

Last time I in SLC, I spent most all of my time dodging skiers who were poking around and carving near the entire width of the runs, although it was Easter weekend, so the families might have had a strong presence.
I think it comes down to this. There are skilled skiers/boarders, and there are novice. There are sensible people, and there are not-so-sensible people. What they ride may vary.
I'm a speed demon, so I tend not to carve wide, (i board).

X2 on Dreamcatcher at Canyons. I've been there twice...this is the least crowded portion of the resort...AWESOME trees. You can find powder DAYS after a dump in there.
And TrailJumper...why Colorado instead of Utah? Well, when you've got a REALLY good friend with a ski-in/ski-out at Breck that you can stay in for FREE (plus hit Vail, A-Basin and Keystone while you are there)...it's worth it!

i started skiing around 8 or 9 years old, which would have been 22 years ago, and picked up snowboarding 12 years ago. have been snowboarding ever since. i love jumping over the people that are just sitting in the middle of a run. i try to stick to areas of a resort that are not traveled to as much. i usually find myself hiking a bit, which will limit traffic encountered. ive always tried to ride the steepest, hardest run i could find, so i would consider my riding more all mountain, almost skier terrain. i dig moguls because i grew up on them, and i like the fact that most boarders stay away from them. i have to admit, i bought a shorter board this past winter, which has me hanging closer to the park.
