I just upgraded my Garmin Edge 305 to a 705 which has ability to add maps.  Is anyone familiar with how that works?  Garmin is horrible at explaining what, if any you will need.  I've been in a couple forums where both TOPO and City Nav maps are knocked.

So say I want to ride at Palos, where can I get those TOPO maps?  Also, if I want to ride on streets, do I need to buy a map package for those as well?

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to use my bike yet, as there is 6 inches on snow on my street and would like to be prepared once I can get out.

Do I need to buy anything to use the GPS map feature on the Garmin Edge 705.  That's really my question.

I've got a Garmin Etrex Vista HCS, bought it for my wife for geocaching.  I just got the TOPO 2008 installed on it (had to buy a microHD card for it)...it's really cool and I think it would work well on the Palos trails.  I downloaded all of the Michigan snowmobile trails for my trip next week so I can track my mileage and use it as a backup to the trail map.  Might be fun to bring it out to Palos this summer...
