Maybe it's just me, but now with all the vegetation gone, all the dead trees leaning this way and that or chopped up and scattered around look really bad.  In some places it just looks like its littered with wooden trash.

If trees could scream, forrests would be loud as heck..

"AWW CRAP, lost another one" or " Dumb mtb'er crashing into me"

What type of accent do you think a tree would have?

I always though KK was one of the more unkempt looking woods around.

Trying to compensate for it's suburban locale?

I agree, the forrest and the Deer probably detest their neighbors (the big houses) that appeared and bring nothing to the party.

Maybe the forest has just let itself go because of its frustration with where it's going in life. After all, every house that gets built around it is one less chance for it to grow into a county forest preserve, or a state forest. I bet when it was still young, it had dreams of one day being something great—a national forest! Others probably told it that you can be anything when you grow up! And it bought into the lies and manipulations. But now that it has seen thru the hollowness of those fantasies, it doesn't see the point in all the primping and cleaning. You look around there in the spring and you can tell the place has a drinking problem.

Really, all the signs are there that it's in trouble. Where does it go for help? Where?!

You can't help a forest that doesn't want help.

The woods are probably over due for a fire to clean things out but I'd bet there won't be any prescribed burns with the close proximity to the houses.

They were doing controlled burns at KK last week.  I agree, probably not too close to the houses though.

The fires took care of the leaves, but all the dead trees cant be burned away.
