Hopefully you’ve reached this thread with an interest in becoming a member of a newly formed web team...instead of just clicking out of curiosity/desire for the *new* label next to the thread title to go away .   As promised in our original plea for help, listed below are the details of who we’re specifically looking for:

Designers: The designers will provide vision and direction to the web site. While the site is built on the solid foundation of the SMF forum software, it is important that as more and more customizations and additions are made, that the site remains a cohesive unit. They will ensure that the site is friendly and appealing to new users. They will find ways to improve site navigation and encourage repeat visits. They may suggest new features and how they are presented to the user. An ambitious designer may play around with some CSS, but otherwise, no coding required.

Developers: The developers will implement the vision of the designers, and will also have input on design issues. Changes needed to the site will be broken down into discrete projects. A developer need not be working on a project at all times, but once accepting to work on a project should follow through. Complete as many or as few projects as your time allows. A developer should have experience with HTML, PHP, and MySQL at a minimum. Having skills in JavaScript, shell scripting and/or C/C++ may also come in handy.

We’re looking to assemble a team as soon as possible, so if you can fulfill either of those roles, please contact either myself or Dave (konadave) directly through PM.  Expressing interest by replying to this thread works as well.

There’s a lot of exciting work to be done, so let’s get this ball rollin’!  I speak for all of CAMBr when I say thanks for your time and effort; look forward to hearing from you!

I may be able to help out. I have quite a bit of experience with web marketing/traffic generation. Not exactly what you are looking for but I push a few million uniques a month to different websites so I have a pretty good idea regarding design/development/making surfers do what you want, etc. Mostly spammy type stuff but it's all the same.

Probably couldn't be a dedicated guy but if I was in the loop on stuff I could definitely work on certain projects here and there as long as I could take them from start to finish by myself. I'm not good working on group stuff.

So if you need someone to pick up a few self contained projects here and there. Count me in, I'd really like to help. I've actually got a few ideas for promoting the PBP that I'd like to run past the board guys. Basically free and I'd do all the work

Thanks for the reply man, we're definitely looking for a dedicated member of the team though and someone with direct design/development experience.  If you ever have ideas for certain events, please share them on the forums - we're always open to new ideas if it helps attract participants, volunteers, sponsors, etc.

Appreciate the interest kind sir .

Though I currently work full time as an internet developer and volunteer as the web developer for a local pit bull rescue, I would be interested in helping out depending on the size of the projects available.  I wouldn't mind taking on a project here and there to help you guys out.  I often check out this site for trail conditions, maps, and other information, and would love to give back wherever I can.

My primary areas of expertise are Java/Coldfusion but I have worked with PHP before.  I'm also fine with CSS/JS/MySQL and many libraries and technologies that utilize them.  I could see myself working on both sides of the fence depending on the project.

Keep me in the loop and let me know what projects are coming up!  Thanks.

John, thanks for the interest man!  Java skills would be most helpful on a few projects here and there.  Do me a favor, send Dave (webmaster@cambr.org) and I (rharris@cambr.org) an email with all your contact info and we'll reach out as projects come up (and believe me, they will).

We are definitely looking to build a dedicated web team to handle ongoing projects and meet on the reg, but "freelance" style help is appreciated as well.  Lookin' forward to working with ya.

Ouch....When free labor gets rejected that stings a little.

But keep me in the loop on stuff. I've got a designer (PS, Illustrator, Flash, CSS/HTML) and a coder ( PHP) that work for me full time and would be available for projects. Two co-location setups with plenty of extra space/bandwidth, ip blocks, etc. I'm sure I have some resources you could guys could use and would be happy to offer them up.

Just keep me CC'd on upcoming projects.

I can help you out on both the design and development sides. I got my bachelors degree in digital multimedia and work full time as a web designer for an interactive agency in the west suberbs. My skill set is more on th design, user interface, and front end development and not much with the intense programming (like C/C++) side. Feel free to check out my online portfolio at http://www.shayhowe.com

I would love to help out. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Is help still needed with the web team? I volunteered (via PM) when this thread initially came up, but there was apparently a webmaster turnover at the time and the issue seemed have been tabled. I'm still willing to help though. I can do development (know all the above) and can help w/ design too. I can also help w/ the mundane, underlying systems work (making backups, managing system security, updating/patching the server OS and software, renewing SSL certs, unpinning old forum topics...  ). Just let me know.

Happy to help as well on the Design side. I think I originally made some suggestions awhile back when there was a different board working on this. Work Full time as a web/graphic designer and I play nice with others.
