Hello
My name is Tom Haring I am a road/mountain cyclist that lives in the area and work as a Lieutenant with the Oswego Fire Dept. We protect the area of Saw Wee Kee park, I was out riding Friday afternoon in the park and was shocked at the amount and difficulty of some of the trails. Looking at this from a mountain bikers stand point this is great but looking at it from a provider of emergency services for the park this place is a true nightmare. If anybody does get injured to the point of needing a ambulance this will be a difficult and time consuming incident. we have in the past been to the park for a incident with a horse landing on a person and having to find this person and remove the was a very manpower intensive incident. I have printed off copy's of the map for saw wee kee from this site since it is the the only map with names to each trail and every stations engines and ambulances will have a copy in there map books. It is key to telling the 911 operater what the name of the trail is so they can relay this to us so we can pin point the area. Please feel free to contact me should you have any suggestions or question.

Thanks and i hope to see you folks on the trails

Lt Tom Haring

Tom

I agree with your observations........trail signage and possibly "you are here" kiosks of some type would be a big help and are currently in the works to some degree. Having someone within the OFD who is familiar with the trail system is a huge asset to all trail user groups. Thanks for bringing this issue to light, and hopefully, further discussion.

Thank you for taking the time to visit the site Tom.  This is great information to pass along to the Park District when we speak with them again regarding signage at the park.
