Has anyone ever approached dupage county about single track at waterfall glen. I did 3 loops out there last night so I had plenty of time to look around while on the boring multi track and there seem to be a few spots to add an inner/outer loops of singletrack. Just wondering cause if we got some singletrack out there I would be there nearly ever day as it is less than a 10 min bike ride from my house.

Yes, I had talked to them about five years ago. At that time, they were strongly against singletrack development in that area. They know that there are deer paths that have been used by mountain bikers, but they patrol to keep that at bay. With the ecology ratings they use, that area is assigned their most protected classification. There are areas in there that are of a lower rating, but the guy I talked to (forget name and title) didn't want to go and pick out what areas they were without me having a particular route in mind that would win approval. Meaning, he felt he could take a lot of time fishing out spots but it wouldn't come to anything if a continuous route couldn't be made to avoid the sensitive areas.

His first hurdle was that we needed to get the county to okay singletrack development as an approved activity in the parks. Russell Rogers has made some headway on that in recent years. So maybe the possibility of singletrack at Waterfall is looking brighter. Someone needs to keep the ball in play and my time at Saw Wee Kee prevents me from being the one. Any volunteers can talk to Russ or Sean Gaskin about how to proceed.
