It's unfortunate news, but we are going to have to cancel the workdays scheduled so far and wait until after the segment #4 paved path extension is completed.

After putting together a detailed proposal of work areas at KK, it was submitted to the parks people and they replied asking us to not perform work while the paved path work is being done.

I have asked that we start with a reduced work plan after the paved trail is complete and I'm waithing to hear back on that.

I know you may be thinking "we are CAMBr and we have some weight with parks these days, just look at PBP' and you would be right, but while heavy machinery is working in the park, Naperville parks are not prepared to take the (insurance/liability) risk and we do not want to jeopardise our short but good so far relationship with Naperville parks.

So, work is suspended for now.

It is unfortunate, but I can understand the PD's point of view.  Although I don't think those crews will be working thursday evenings or saturday mornings either.  Do they have a rough timeline for the completion of the paved path?

It's supposed to be done by the end of June.

I think once we have some dry spells, that I'll get with the Bicycles Etc guys and put some emphasis on rides instead.
maybe have a tune up meet before the ride if anyone needs brakes bleeding etc.

It's the ebb and flow of park relationships. We had that period at SWK last year where they froze our work, though that was more about building a comfort level with what we were doing and how our goals meshed with theirs. The Palos crew have had their progress hiccups over the years, and lord knows the DG crew is up to their ears in setbacks!

As long as there's a good chance of better news coming, being positive about it always gives us a better chance to see things swing our way later on.

This stinks, you would think their would be better solidarity amongst work crews and park districts/forest preserves. All try to achieve the same goal of trail maintenance.

Relationships like this take time.  It's all about building trust and doing things the right way.  Things are still going good at KK and Alex is doing a GREAT job building a relationship with the park district. It sounds like we'll be back in no time
